The 30-second AI video, as a one-take or as a stitch: the credit math
Thirty seconds of AI video priced two ways on our shelf: one Kling O3 Pro join vs six stitched Veo cuts, with the identity-relock cost on both.

Every pricing SERP for AI video quotes a per-second rate and stops there. Rangy.ai lists Seedance 2.5 at $0.33/s and Veo 3.1 at $0.40/s; Morphed.app ranges "between $1.50 and $12 for a 30-second video" without saying which engine does which. Nobody prices the second decision — the one that comes AFTER the engine pick — which is: do you render the 30 seconds as one take, or as a stitch of shorter shots?
The two paths bill the same per-second rate, but they cost you differently in a way the SERP never shows: a stitch adds cut points, and every cut point is a place the character's identity has to re-lock. On our shelf, the credit math makes one of the two choices cheaper most of the time. Here is how it reads.
The two 30-second paths our shelf serves
Our catalog of five engines sets Kling O3 Pro at a 15-second shot cap. One generation on that engine renders at most 15 seconds; a 30-second render is two shots joined with the same character locked across both — the one-join path. Seedance 2.5 holds one continuous generation for 30 seconds, no join at all. Veo 3.1 Fast caps at 8 seconds per generation (enum: 4, 6, 8), so a 30-second render on Veo is four shots at (8 + 8 + 8 + 6) or three shots at (8 + 8 + 6 + 8). The engine decides how many cuts you own.
| path | engine | shots to make 30s | character re-locks | credits per voiced second |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| true one-take | Seedance 2.5 720p | 1 (30s continuous) | 0 | 70 |
| one-join | Kling O3 Pro 720p | 2 (15 + 15) | 1 | 30 |
| three-cut stitch | Veo 3.1 Fast 720p | 4 (8 + 8 + 8 + 6) | 3 | 30 |
| six-cut stitch | Kling O3 Pro 720p | 6 (5 × 6) | 5 | 30 |
A "character re-lock" is what we call the moment the engine starts a new generation and has to read the reference set again to render the lead at a visually matching identity. One re-lock usually matches. Six re-locks almost never all match: the lighting on shot 2 slips a degree, the eye position on shot 4 drifts, the costume breaks at the belt on shot 5. Every re-lock is a possibility to re-render.
The 30-second render, priced three ways
Each path billed at 30 seconds of voiced output on Creator ($45 / 6,000 credits, 0.75¢ a credit):
| path | engine | credits | $ Lite | $ Creator | $ Studio annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| true one-take | Seedance 2.5 720p voiced | 2,100 | $21.00 | $15.75 | $11.55 |
| one-join | Kling O3 Pro 720p voiced | 900 | $9.00 | $6.75 | $4.95 |
| three-cut stitch | Veo 3.1 Fast 720p voiced | 900 | $9.00 | $6.75 | $4.95 |
| six-cut stitch | Kling O3 Pro 720p voiced | 900 | $9.00 | $6.75 | $4.95 |
Three of the four paths bill the same 900 credits on Creator. The decision between them is not price per second — it is cut-point risk. The one-join Kling path has one place the identity has to re-match. The six-cut stitch has five.
The true one-take on Seedance 2.5 bills more than twice the credit of the Kling join — 2,100 credits vs 900 — but it has zero cut points and the full 30 seconds is one continuous take of the same person. Seedance 2.5 reads up to 30 reference images in one scene, so the identity carries through without a re-read. On Studio annual, the delta is $6.60 for the one-take vs the join; on Lite, it is $12.00.
The silent-second discount, both paths
Kling O3 Pro is one of two engines in our shelf where silent seconds bill cheaper than voiced ones (Veo 3.1 Fast is the other). Silent bills at 24 cr/s instead of 30 — a 20% discount per second with no voice. Seedance always bills the same regardless of audio. Which means a mixed voiced/silent 30-second piece prefers Kling.
A representative mixed cut: 10 voiced seconds opening, 10 silent seconds middle (voiceover over b-roll), 10 voiced seconds close. Priced on each path:
| path | voiced seconds | silent seconds | credits | $ Creator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| one-join Kling | 20 × 30 = 600 | 10 × 24 = 240 | 840 | $6.30 |
| three-cut stitch Veo | 20 × 30 = 600 | 10 × 20 = 200 | 800 | $6.00 |
| true one-take Seedance | 30 × 70 = 2,100 | — | 2,100 | $15.75 |
Veo takes the cheapest mixed-audio ticket at 800 credits — $6.00 on Creator — but at the cost of three cut points. Kling's one-join path is 40 credits more ($6.30) with one cut point. Seedance stays level at 2,100 credits because its audio toggle does not change price; its win is zero cuts.
The seams-cost nobody prices in
A 30-second stitch is a visible sequence of 5-to-8-second clips with cut points between them. The piece ships when every cut point matches: lighting continuous, pose continuous, costume continuous, eyeline continuous. In practice, one of those breaks on a six-cut stitch about half the time — we track this across our own renders — and the fix is to re-render the one bad shot.
A re-rendered 5-second Kling shot bills 150 credits (voiced) or 120 credits (silent). On a six-cut stitch at 900 credits total, every re-render is 13–17% of the original ticket. A one-join path with one 15-second shot has one place a re-render costs 450 credits — but you only pay that cost at most once, not five times.
The expected total credit cost on each path, with one re-render budgeted at the per-cut rate:
| path | base credits | expected re-renders | expected total | $ Creator (expected) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| one-join Kling | 900 | 0.3 × 450 | 1,035 | $7.76 |
| three-cut stitch Veo | 900 | 0.6 × 240 | 1,044 | $7.83 |
| six-cut stitch Kling | 900 | 1.2 × 150 | 1,080 | $8.10 |
| true one-take Seedance | 2,100 | 0.05 × 2,100 | 2,205 | $16.54 |
The expected re-render count climbs with the number of cut points. The one-take has almost no re-render risk; the six-cut stitch has the most. The one-join Kling path sits in the middle and comes out cheapest in expectation on Creator. The ranking SERP never shows you this column.
When to pay the one-take premium
The one-take on Seedance 2.5 at 2,100 credits is $15.75 on Creator — more than twice the Kling join. The cases where it pays:
- The 30 seconds is a continuous camera move. A dolly-in from wide to close, a pan across a room, a tracking shot following the character — one take, no join. Kling's 15-second cap breaks the dolly at second 15. Seedance holds the move.
- A reference set of more than five. Kling takes five elements. If the scene requires six references (two characters, their outfits, two props, a logo), Seedance 2.5's 30-image cap is the only engine that holds them all in one pass.
- A single actor speaking continuously for 20+ seconds. A monologue where the voice does not break — Kling's join is at second 15; Seedance holds the voiced take uncut.
Everything else — a scene with a mid-point edit, a scene that lives inside one eyeline but changes framing, a scene with b-roll inserts — stitches cheaper on Kling with the one-join path.
The decision rule
30s with no mid-point cut, continuous camera, 6+ references: Seedance 2.5 one-take at 2,100 cr ($15.75 Creator).
30s with one mid-point beat change, up to five references: Kling O3 Pro one-join at 900 cr ($6.75 Creator).
30s with three b-roll inserts and a voiceover carrying through: Veo 3.1 Fast three-cut at 800–900 cr ($6.00–$6.75 Creator).
30s with six cutaways, montage-style: Kling O3 Pro six-cut at 900 cr, budget 1,080 cr expected after re-renders ($8.10 Creator).
Our free account carries 300 credits — enough to render one 10-second voiced Kling O3 Pro test (300 cr) or one 4-second Seedance 2.5 720p one-take (280 cr) to see which path your scene wants. Price your 30-second render on each path before you commit a plan to it; the quote reads live from the same catalog this page quotes.
The "between $1.50 and $12" range in the Morphed.app post is honest for a listicle. The $6.30–$6.75 figure on this page for the one-join Kling path is honest for a 30-second voiced piece with one mid-point beat. Nobody writes the second number in the first-page SERP because nobody prices the stitch-vs-take decision in app credits across engines.
